Crayfish and Cheese Braai Pie

by Traveling Wild and Free

Ingredients :

  • 1 Crayfish
  • 1 Pre-made Puff Pastry Roll
  • 1/2 Cup Grated Cheese
  • 2 teaspoons Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Mixed Herbs

Spice Blend (adjust to taste):

  • 1 teaspoon Aromat
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Fish Spice
  •

Tsp = Teaspoon
Tbsp = Tablespoon

Directions:

  1. Light your COBB with ½ a CobbleStone, place your Griddle+ and Dome Lid.
  2. Start by grilling the crayfish for approximately 3 minutes per side. Flip the crayfish 4 times during cooking, adding 1 teaspoon of butter to the flesh side each time you flip. Once cooked, remove the shell, chop the meat, and set it aside.
  3. Roll out the pre-made puff pastry and spread butter over one half. Arrange the chopped crayfish and grated cheese on the pastry. Sprinkle the prepared spice blend over the ingredients.
  4. Fold the pastry over the filling and firmly press the edges to seal.
  5. Place the pie on the Griddle+ and cook for about 15 minutes. Turn the pie frequently to prevent burning, ensuring it cooks evenly. The pie should have a lovely golden crust when cooked.
  6. Serve the delicious crayfish and cheese barbecue pie with your choice of dipping sauce, such as Thousand Island or Tartar sauce.
  7. Enjoy your flavourful creation!

Note: Feel free to customize the spices and flavours according to your preferences.
