Cleaning your COBB

Cleaning your COBB

Our COBB has literally taken us so many places and we have created such awesome memories while cooking together. But there is one thing that we always dread at the end of a hearty meal – and that is the cleaning.

We have heard about people who never clean their COBB – and it permanently stays outside with the rest of the braai area. Kudo’s to them – but we prefer to clean ours after each use as we never know when we’ll have to pop it into the Carrier Bag for our next adventure!

So, here is some tried and tested tips on how to clean your trusty COBB:

The dishwasher does all the dirty work (almost!)

The beauty of the COBB is its dishwasher-friendly design. Rinse the accessories used with hot water and pop it into the dishwasher. The only accessory that is the exception here is the Pizza Stone – never submerge the Stone into water, simply wipe clean with a damp cloth.

The Disposable Sleeves is your next best friend!!!

Made from food-grade aluminium foil, these sleeves fit snugly inside your COBB (Pro Colour, Premier, Premier+, Premier Air, Premier+ Gas) catching drips, splatters and those stubborn burnt-on bits. Basically, they act as a protective barrier between your food and the actual COBB, keeping things clean and minimizing the need for intense scrubbing. Easy to remove after your braai, it leaves only the accessories used for a quick wash. No more soaking the whole COBB!

The COBB Cleaner works like MAGIC!

Simply spray some on your dirty accessories (it has a very strong fume so be sure to use it in a well ventilated area) – wait 5 minutes and then wipe the residue off with an old cloth or sponge. For stubborn grime (especially on the Griddle+), spray again and leave overnight. If you don’t have COBB Cleaner, then try a good overnight soak in hot, soapy water.

Prevention is better than cure:

Before cooking, we always spray some “Spray & Cook” on our accessories and on the inside of the Dome Lid. This prevents the residue not to stick too much.

Clean while it’s hot:

Tackle the accessories while they’re still warm – grease wipes off much easier than when it’s cold and solidified.

With these simple steps, your COBB will be ready for its next adventure in no time. Now go forth, COBB-masters and get back to celebrating the freedom of cooking ANYWHERE on your COBB!
